Secondary Conference - Effective Questioning

Description:
Most teachers can think of a time when questioning worked well and led to purposeful discussion, and just as many can also think of times when that didn't happen! In this session, the topic of how to make questioning more effective will be explored. Participants will examine: (1) the purpose of questions, (2) common forms in which questions are asked, and (3) the ways in which teachers typically handle responses. Participants will leave with new questioning strategies, ideas for encouraging more student responses, and methods for handling incorrect responses. (open to all teachers)
