Communication with parents is very important in Dickson County Schools. Parents are kept informed by several different methods such as automated phone calls, text messages, student information portal, social media and local news broadcasts. Official communication methods are listed below.

Dickson County Schools recognizes the vital role that parents/guardians play in education. Skyward Family Access is an easy to use web-based tool for parents/guardians that provides secure, near real time information about your child’s grades, attendance, class schedule, messages from teachers, and demographic information.

Communications using Skyward is via the primary email. Messages or files are sent to parents, students, or staff using the primary email or phone number on file with the System.

Your student’s school sets up access at time of enrollment. If you do not remember how to access your account, please contact your school. 

To receive alerts and notifications using the X (formerly Twitter) social media app or the X SMS feature, parents will need to sign up for a X account, add their cell phone number to the account, find and follow @DCS_TN. Your child's school may also utilize X to re-tweet @DCS_TN communications. If you have questions about any system-associated accounts used by your child's school, contact the school for those details.

Dickson County Schools utilizes an automated calling system to keep parents informed of things like student tardies and absences, school principal communications, district announcements and more. These official communications are sent via telephone call or text message to the primary guardians' phone numbers on file. 

The phone number that the calls will originate from is (615) 441-1994. Please be sure to add this number to your phone contacts.

If you are a community member or non-guardian family member of a student and would like sign up for automated phone notifications, you will find instructions here to be added to the notification system.

Dickson County Schools understands the popularity of social media and utilizes its format to provide school-related information and announcements. You can find important annoucements and information on the Dickson County Schools' Facebook group page. All posts are public or you can request to join. Everyone is welcome.

Finally, official information may also be shared via the district website, local radio (WDKN 101.5 FM), local television (Channels 2, 4, 5, 17) and official documents sent home with students with appropriate official signatures.
