Good afternoon. This is Andrea Beaubien, principal at White Bluff Elementary. I have a lengthy message for you with lots of important information, so please bear with me.
First, you will be receiving a letter from your child’s teacher this week. This letter will include directions for accessing our Virtual Open House. We are looking forward to “seeing” you there!
Second, the first week of school will be a staggered start. If your child’s last name begins with the letters A-L he or she will attend school on Monday, August 3rd and Tuesday, August 4th. Students with last names M-Z will attend school on Wednesday, August 5th and Thursday, August 6th. All students will attend school on Friday, August 7th.
Third, if your child takes medication at school please email our school nurse at [email protected] to let her know. We will have a medication drop tomorrow July 29th from 3 p.m.-6p.m. and again on Friday, July 31 from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. Please, remember that medications must be in the original prescription bottle. Over the counter medications must be in an unopened and original container.
Fourth, all of our students will be given the exciting opportunity to be issued a chromebook to use this year at school and at home if the need arises. On the district website at dcstn.org you will find a technology agreement. Please go to the website and fill this form out prior to the start of school.
Fifth, this year masks will be required to be worn for students and staff anytime social distancing is not possible. We also are asking that parents send a full water bottle with their child each morning as we will not be accessing our water fountains. Students can refill the bottle in our new bottle filling station if that is needed. We will be unable to welcome lunch guests this year. All visitors will need to make an appointment 24 hours in advance and we will still do our best to meet virtually whenever possible. The supply lists for each grade level can be found on the school website and on our Facebook page. School supply vouchers will be available on the table outside the entrance to the school. This table will be the place for you to place forgotten items for your child, sign them in or out if they are tardy or checked out early, or to place anything that will need to come into the school building. This is a lot of information and we will keep you updated of any changes or additions.
Finally, please know that we recognize that school may look a little bit differently than in previous years, but what is not different is our excitement about teaching your children, our commitment to academic excellence, or our plan to make safety our first priority.
