Fifth Grade English and Language Arts Teacher

My students call me Mrs. Collins. I attended Middle Tennessee State University. I started teaching in 1996. I have taught several subjects between kindergarten and eighth grade. I don’t remember a time in my life I didn’t want to be a teacher. When I was little, I played school all the time. I have a family full of teachers and educators. There are so many different reasons I like teaching my students. Each and every day is a new challenge. I love the enthusiasm students bring each day.

My students call me Mrs. Himes. I am a resident of McEwen, TN, but I have been with Dickson County schools since 2009. I am married to a wonderful man named Charles. We have four children, ages 15-23. I am a graduate of McEwen High School, and I continued my education at Austin Peay State University, where I received my Bachelor's in Education. During my spare time, I enjoy shopping, spending time on the river, being at the softball fields, traveling, and just being with my family and friends. I am looking forward to a great school year!

My students call me Mrs. Merickle. I graduated from Austin Peay State University in 2015 with a degree in K-6 education. I have been teaching since 2015. I spent the last 4 years teaching 5th grade writing and homeroom science at Oakmont Elementary. I was born in California, raised in Arizona, and married into Tennessee. I currently live in McEwen with my husband Travis. We have a son and a daughter, Austin and Isabelle (Izzy). I have 1 dog (Duke) and 1 cat (Baby). Interesting facts: I can water ski, and I have been to almost all 50 states except South Dakota, North Dakota, Hawaii, and Alaska. I love to cook and read. Most of all, I am excited to start my new adventure at Sullivan Central Elementary!
