Christa Vanderpool has served Dickson County as an educator for over two decades. Mrs. Vanderpool was born in Tennessee, but raised in Texas where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with a specialization in Reading from Texas A&M University.
In 2002, choosing to return to Tennessee to raise her family, Mrs. Vanderpool also began teaching at Stuart Burns Elementary where she flourished as an educator for 21 years. She accumulated a wealth of experience teaching first and third grades and gained insight into building positive learning environments necessary for student success.
Two years ago, she joined the district Behavior Team as a Behavior Consultant, serving elementary and secondary schools. In 2022, she received her COMP Trainer’s Certification through Vanderbilt University. She is a district-wide COMP trainer for Dickson County educators.
As the new Behavior Coordinator, Vanderpool will support all Dickson County schools in fostering positive and effective educational environments. One of her primary roles will be providing professional development to educators to enhance their skills based on best practices in behavior-related supports and strategies. She will also help families connect with resources that enhance academic, social, and emotional health.
Mrs. Vanderpool is dedicated to addressing critical issues that impact teaching, learning, and the overall academic landscape needed for student success. Her top priorities are strategies that promote appropriate on-task behaviors, student well-being, and teacher effectiveness.
She looks forward to working with staff at all Dickson County schools as well as our community partners. Mrs. Vanderpool firmly believes that now, more than ever, it truly does “take a village to raise a child”. Being a part of a child’s support network involves not only teaching academic subjects but also providing emotional support. Cultivating a supportive and nurturing environment for students will afford them the best opportunities to thrive academically and personally.
Mrs. Vanderpool has 2 adult children, Zac and Jillian. In her spare time, she and her husband enjoy spending time with family and friends. She also enjoys doing crafty outdoor projects and tending to her flower gardens.
