Cindy Shelton

Ms. Shelton is a proud lifelong resident of Dickson County and a former student of Vanleer Elementary. A 1996 graduate of Dickson County High School, she went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Education from Austin Peay State University and a Master’s in Educational Leadership from Tennessee State University.

With 22 years of dedicated service in the Dickson County School System, Cindy brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to education. For the past eight years, she has served as Assistant Principal at Charlotte Elementary. Prior to that, she taught both third and fifth grades at Charlotte and Oakmont Elementary Schools. Cindy is passionate about fostering student growth, supporting faculty, and building strong school communities. She is honored to serve as Principal of Vanleer Elementary — the school where her own educational journey began and where her passion for teaching was first inspired.

Cindy's goal is to provide a positive, safe learning environment where students and faculty can thrive. Vanleer Elementary holds a special place in her heart, and she is proud to give back to the community that shaped her.
