Buchanan, Celeste
7th Grade Science
I earned a degree in K-12 Education at Carson-Newman University in May of 2018. I am certified to teach all content areas K-8, and I am endorsed to teach English 6-12. When I am not sharing my love of science with my students, you can find me reading, painting, hiking, or caring for my two cats Effie and Bastion. My teaching philosophy is based on the idea that students are life-long learners, and that learning needs to be student-centered. My goal is to fuel students' passion for understanding scientific phenomena both inside and outside of the classroom. Thank you for taking the time to read my bio!

As a lifelong learner who loves reading, my goal as a teacher is to instill a similar love of learning and reading in my students through fun and engaging practice in my classroom. Hohl, Jennifer
7th Grade Math Teacher
My name is Jennifer Hohl and I currently teach 7th
and 8th grade math at Dickson Middle School. I am a proud member of
Altruismo (Black House). I have two children who are very active in sports and
marching band activities. I graduated from Austin Peay State University in May
1996 with my degree in Education. My teaching philosophy is focused on ensuring
that students know where they are in their academic journey and helping them
realize the vision of how to reach their academic and personal goals. Taking the time and mapping out what their
needs are going forward is an important piece in goal setting, and I feel that
establishing positive relationships with each student is where it begins.

Payne, Mandy
7th Grade Literacy
In 1993, I graduated from Queens University of Charlotte
(NC) with a BA in English and a BA in Communications. For the next 15 years, I
worked various jobs in the PR/marketing world. After teaching a Vacation Bible
Class with my mother-in-law I decided that I would rather devote my time and
energy to helping kids instead of making a company money, so I returned to
school to become a teacher. I taught in Western North Carolina for six years
before moving to Tennessee in 2015 when I joined the Dickson County School
System. I’m most excited when I can help students see that what they learn in
Literacy class can be applied to real-world situations to help them be active
and productive members of society.
