My name is Joann Anderson and this is my 20th year here at DMS. For 19 years I worked as a secretary in the office. This is my first year as the DMS bookkeeper. It’s an exciting change for me! I’ve lived in Dickson all of my life and attended this very school in the 8th and 9th grade so I suppose “Dragon” blood runs through my veins. Go Dragons!

I am very happy to be starting a new year at DMS. I am very honored and very happy to be a Special Education Assistant Teacher. I love working with children, and if you can make a difference in a child's life, it is such a rewarding and blessed feeling!

I also have children and grandchildren of my own. I am very happy and privileged to be helping raise two of my grandchildren now; they live with us. I love spending time with my family and my friends. I also have my school family and it's a beautiful blessing to be able to do it all.  Life is precious and I want to enjoy every minute of it. If I can just touch someone's life in a positive way, I feel I am doing my job. I look forward to this year and the years to come!

Kristen Ferree

Kristen Ferree is a Dickson County native and a DCHS graduate from the class of 2007. After high school, she attended Austin Peay State University where she majored in English and minored in distributive teaching. After graduating from Austin Peay in 2011, she joined the faculty at Creek Wood High School, where she spent a decade teaching English to grades 9 – 12 and learning the value of being part of a team. Mrs. Ferree later returned to APSU and earned her MAEd in Educational Leadership. Her course of study from APSU left her with the lasting impression that a leader in today’s schools must be a person of dynamic ability, one who values people, processes, and practices. She hopes to be a leader of this nature and feels honored by the trust the community puts in Dickson Middle School to serve and nurture the students that walk our hallways.

I earned my Bachelor of Science in Art Education from Middle Tennessee State University in 2011. I am certified to teach art to all grade levels, K-12. As a graduate of Creek Wood High School, my roots are here in Dickson County and I’m thrilled to be the art teacher at Dickson Middle. I am an advocate for the arts and hope to instill an appreciation for all types of art within our students. I believe in teaching discipline-based art education (art history, art aesthetics, art criticism, and cross-curriculum) as well as life-long skills. I strive to create a respectful, welcoming, and loving environment for my students and to encourage them to express themselves through art. When I’m not teaching, I’m a busy wife, mom of two boys, and a professional photographer.

Dickson County in August 1998. Since 2012, I have been a sponsor of our DMS Student
Council.  I also conduct spelling bees and geography bees for students attending our
Dickson County middle schools. I enjoy helping our students succeed in the classroom,
with activities, and in sports.

I completed my student teaching at Creek Wood High School teaching Sophomores and Seniors. I previously worked for the Cheatham County School District teaching 7th and 8th grade English Language Arts and RTI. I have lived in Dickson for the last 6 years and am very excited to be teaching in the community that I love! I believe that every child deserves to be advocated for and has a right to an equitable education regardless of any disadvantages. I will always do whatever it takes to go one more round!

Luke Schindler teaches 8th Grade Science at Dickson Middle School. He carries a great enthusiasm for all of the sciences, but his specialty is Chemistry. He studied at Marietta College in Marietta, Ohio for his undergraduate degree. He is currently pursuing his Masters Degree at Austin Peay State University.
Ryan Sensing

Ryan is a native to Dickson County. He attended Charlotte Elementary, Charlotte Junior High and Dickson County High School. He signed a college baseball scholarship to play at Jackson State Community College and transferred to Mid-Continent University in Mayfield, Kentucky from there to finish his playing days before transferring back to Austin Peay State University to finish his B.S. in Health and Human Performance with a minor in Education. He got his first M.S. in Theory and Practice of Education from Arkansas State University and received his second M.S. in Educational Leadership from Austin Peay State University.
 
Ryan taught Physical Education at Charlotte Elementary for ten years before moving to Creek Wood to teach Personal Finance and Physical Education for a year and nine weeks. He finished the remainder of the 2018-2019 school year as an assistant principal in an interim role at Charlotte Elementary.
 
Throughout finishing his B.S. at APSU and teaching career, he has accumulated fifteen years of coaching experience in both baseball and football.  His experience spans one year of CMS baseball, fourteen years of CWHS baseball, eight years of CMS football, three years of head freshman coach CWHS football, two additional years of CMS football before returning to CWHS football as defensive coordinator for two years.
He is excited for the opportunity to create and develop relationships with the students, faculty/staff, and the community.
