My name is Joann Anderson and this is my 20th year here at DMS. For 19 years I worked as a secretary in the office. This is my first year as the DMS bookkeeper. It’s an exciting change for me! I’ve lived in Dickson all of my life and attended this very school in the 8th and 9th grade so I suppose “Dragon” blood runs through my veins. Go Dragons!

My vision is to create an environment full of learning experiences that will not only instill respect and teamwork but will also generate a passion for physical fitness and health that will last a life time. My goal is to make education fun and purposeful striving to promote long term carryover of healthy life skills. With a variety of diverse teaching methods, I believe all students can learn and have fun while doing it.

Austin Peay State University with an endorsement for all content in 4th-8th
grades. My first four years at Dickson Middle were spent within the classroom
teaching 7th and 8th grade science. While I am now in the
gym, my goal is to implement a love of not only physical fitness and healthy
lifestyles, but also instill a love of learning in all students. I aspire to
teach my students to work interdependently within their teams to achieve their
goals while in the gym, in hopes that it carries over to their daily lives.

My goal is to help every student improve his or her conceptual understanding of the math we are learning. I earned a degree in K-12 Education at Carson-Newman University in May of 2018. I am certified to teach all content areas K-8, and I am endorsed to teach English 6-12. When I am not sharing my love of science with my students, you can find me reading, painting, hiking, or caring for my two cats Effie and Bastion. My teaching philosophy is based on the idea that students are life-long learners, and that learning needs to be student-centered. My goal is to fuel students' passion for understanding scientific phenomena both inside and outside of the classroom. Thank you for taking the time to read my bio!

I attended Austin Peay State University with a Bachelors degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with a concentration of 4th-8th grade. I am a mama and wife and enjoy attending sporting events, getting lost in a good book, and spending time at the beach.I enjoy teaching at this level because it is such a critical influencial time in their lives. A good teacher can change a life and I strive to change as many as possible. Setting a child up to use the critical thinking skills for success is the best gift we as teachers can give them.  I hope to have an opportunity to go back to school when my own children are older to become a media specialist.

Helping and assisting people with special needs is my passion. I began with volunteering with my church in Arizona and my first job was assisting adults with developmental disabilities. There I learned many valuable skills and helped clients set their goals and work to achieve them while fostering their independence. I have also volunteered with the Special Olympics as well. Having children of my own with special needs has taught even more than I can explain. I believe with the right assistance and positive encouragement there is nothing children with specials needs can't achieve. And I'm here to help in any way I can!

I am very happy to be starting a new year at DMS. I am very honored and very happy to be a Special Education Assistant Teacher. I love working with children, and if you can make a difference in a child's life, it is such a rewarding and blessed feeling!

I also have children and grandchildren of my own. I am very happy and privileged to be helping raise two of my grandchildren now; they live with us. I love spending time with my family and my friends. I also have my school family and it's a beautiful blessing to be able to do it all.  Life is precious and I want to enjoy every minute of it. If I can just touch someone's life in a positive way, I feel I am doing my job. I look forward to this year and the years to come!

I earned my B.S. from Tennessee Technological University and my M.Ed in Curriculum and Instruction from MTSU. I began my career teaching elementary in Dickson County, and have proudly been a middle school ELA teacher for the past 5 years. As a lifelong learner who loves reading, my goal as a teacher is to instill a similar love of learning and reading in my students through fun and engaging practice in my classroom. I enjoy connecting my students to texts that interest and inspire them, and providing challenges to encourage students to push themselves academically. I'm so proud to be a part of DMS Dragon Nation, and look forward to helping students have a fun and successful year!

I graduated from APSU with a Master degree in December, 2011 and began teaching at Oakmont Elem. in January, 2012. I taught there for 3 &1/2 years and then became certified to teach ELL. I have been working with middle school students since. I am married and have twins, a boy and a girl, and a dog named Brady. I love Tennessee Vols football (GBO!), spending time with my family, traveling, and reading mystery/suspense/thriller novels.

I am excited to be a part of the DMS team working as a Special Education Assistant. I have been working with young children since 2003. I really enjoy working with young people and making a positive impact on their lives. I take it as a honor and priviledge to have the opportunity to make a difference in the life of a child. I look forward to learning and growing with the students that I come in contact with each and everyday. I truly believe that creating a culture of community and developing personal relationships with the students are keys to moving them in the direction of success.

I was a music teacher for 16 years and was lucky to teach in the same building where my three sons were attending school. My goal is to inspire our students to become more than they believe they can be.

I have taught in WV, TN, AK, and WA. I graduated from Western Governors University in 2014 with a degree in Curriculum and Instruction. Interests and Hobbies: Roller Derby, gardening, and perusing thrift stores for the ultimate treasure. :-)

My name is Jennifer Hohl and I currently teach 7th and 8th grade math at Dickson Middle School. I am a proud member of Altruismo (Black House). I have two children who are very active in sports and marching band activities. I graduated from Austin Peay State University in May 1996 with my degree in Education. My teaching philosophy is focused on ensuring that students know where they are in their academic journey and helping them realize the vision of how to reach their academic and personal goals.  Taking the time and mapping out what their needs are going forward is an important piece in goal setting, and I feel that establishing positive relationships with each student is where it begins.

I have worked with children of all ability levels in the all the years I have been teaching. I firmly believe that all children are capable of reaching their full learning potential, and as teachers we are their guides.

Mr. Joyce has been the band director at DMS since the year 2000. After receiving a Bachelor's Degree in Music from Tennessee Tech University, he received his Master's degree in Administration in 2006. In addition to DMS, he also works as the assistant band director at Dickson County High School. Mr. Joyce lives in Dickson with his wife Carrie and two sons, Carter and Spencer.

I earned my Bachelor of Science in Art Education from Middle Tennessee State University in 2011. I am certified to teach art to all grade levels, K-12. As a graduate of Creek Wood High School, my roots are here in Dickson County and I’m thrilled to be the art teacher at Dickson Middle. I am an advocate for the arts and hope to instill an appreciation for all types of art within our students. I believe in teaching discipline-based art education (art history, art aesthetics, art criticism, and cross-curriculum) as well as life-long skills. I strive to create a respectful, welcoming, and loving environment for my students and to encourage them to express themselves through art. When I’m not teaching, I’m a busy wife, mom of two boys, and a professional photographer.

In my spare time I raise Labrador Retrievers and I love to farm and fish. I believe in building strong relationships with my students and creating a positive learning environment.

Raised in Dickson County, Kelsey Mullinicks is a graduate of Dickson County High School. She went on to continue her education at Bethel University earning a Bachelor’s degree in Child Learning and Development and a Master’s Degree in Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment. Kelsey resides in Dickson and is married to her husband, Tom. They have two children, Maddox and Jax.

I graduated from Bethel University in 2015 with my Bachelor's degree in Music Education. I taught 6 - 12 band, choir, and music classes at MJHS and MHS from 2016 - 2018 and I am so excited to be a Dragon now! I strive to create a classroom where we explore music through hands-on learning. My goal is to broaden horizons of my students and to encourage them to think creatively. I hope to help them come to have a love and appreciation of music and the arts, and also the ability to work independently and to think outside of the box. I am director of the Dynamic Dragon Chorale and I also co-direct theatre productions on the DMS Stage. When I am not teaching or performing on stage I can be found at home my husband and our cat Biscuit and dog Solo.

I am the Middle School Social Worker for all of Dickson County School.  I graduated from Mid-Continent University with my bachelors in Psychology and Counseling.  I have been working with children and families for 13 years. My family and I moved to Dickson in 2016 from West TN.  My husband, Mike, and I have 3 children and we are foster parents.  I love working with our students and families here in Dickson County and I am blessed to serve in Dickson County Schools.

In 1993, I graduated from Queens University of Charlotte (NC) with a BA in English and a BA in Communications. For the next 15 years, I worked various jobs in the PR/marketing world. After teaching a Vacation Bible Class with my mother-in-law I decided that I would rather devote my time and energy to helping kids instead of making a company money, so I returned to school to become a teacher. I taught in Western North Carolina for six years before moving to Tennessee in 2015 when I joined the Dickson County School System. I’m most excited when I can help students see that what they learn in Literacy class can be applied to real-world situations to help them be active and productive members of society.

After teaching in elementary for13 years, I was hired as the instructional coach for Dickson Middle School. I love being back in my former junior high striving for excellence everyday with students, teachers, and administration.

      I graduated from Austin Peay State University in 1995 with my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education with a K-8 endorsement. I earned my Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction in Reading from Austin Peay State University in 1998. In 2010, I finished my Master's Degree in Library Media Specialist from Trevecca University.  My love of learning led to completing the Gifted Education Endorsement in 2019 from Vanderbilt University. I have 20+ years of teaching experience all in Dickson County. I love sharing my passion for reading and expressing oneself through writing with my students. I am proud to be the Librarian at DMS,  a school my husband, myself and my two daughters have all attended. In my family, our Dragon pride runs deep! #wearedragons

Hello! My name is Dondi Sanders and I teach sixth grade Reading/Language Arts. I was born in California but have lived in Waverly, TN for most of my life. I have been with my husband, Adam, for 20 years. We have an 18 year old son, Ethan, who will be attending UT Knoxville in the fall. I graduated from Middle Tennessee State University with a B.S. degree in Elementary Education. This will be my ninth year teaching. I taught five years in Humphreys County and this will be my fourth year teaching in Dickson County. My hobbies include watching my son drag race, being with friends and family, shopping, and playing with my dog, Moe. I’m looking forward to a great year!

Ryan is a native to Dickson County. He attended Charlotte Elementary, Charlotte Junior High and Dickson County High School. He signed a college baseball scholarship to play at Jackson State Community College and transferred to Mid-Continent University in Mayfield, Kentucky from there to finish his playing days before transferring back to Austin Peay State University to finish his B.S. in Health and Human Performance with a minor in Education. He got his first M.S. in Theory and Practice of Education from Arkansas State University and received his second M.S. in Educational Leadership from Austin Peay State University.
Ryan taught Physical Education at Charlotte Elementary for ten years before moving to Creek Wood to teach Personal Finance and Physical Education for a year and nine weeks. He finished the remainder of the 2018-2019 school year as an assistant principal in an interim role at Charlotte Elementary.
Throughout finishing his B.S. at APSU and teaching career, he has accumulated fifteen years of coaching experience in both baseball and football.  His experience spans one year of CMS baseball, fourteen years of CWHS baseball, eight years of CMS football, three years of head freshman coach CWHS football, two additional years of CMS football before returning to CWHS football as defensive coordinator for two years.
He is excited for the opportunity to create and develop relationships with the students, faculty/staff, and the community.

I teach 8th Grade Social Studies here at DMS. I graduated from the Freed-Hardeman University and I am a former Dickson Dragon and Dickson Cougar. 

I taught History classes and was the head basketball coach for the Christian Academy of St. Louis in Missouri and Holloway High School in Murfreesboro, Tennessee before coming home to join the Dragons. 

In the 2018-2019 school year, I was given the Teacher of the Year award from Rutherford County Schools.

I love the Dickson community and I am proud to be teaching where I grew up and where I went to Middle School.

I work as an Intervention Specialist and Co-Teacher to help ensure success for students of all ability levels. I believe that all students should have the opportunity to reach their potential. My goal is to help them learn, grow and reach that potential.

I graduated from UT Martin in 2011 with a Bachelor of Science in K-6 education. I graduated in 2015 from Bethel University with a Masters in Administration. I taught sixth grade for six years and then taught fourth grade for two. I am excited to be back in sixth grade ELA. Reading is one of my greatest passions and I love to instill it in my students.
