Third Grade English and Language Arts Teacher

My students call me Mr. Travis. I graduated from Middle Tennessee State University with a degree in elementary education. I have been teaching since 2007 with most of my experience being in 5th grade science and social studies. This will be my first year teaching 3rd grade at Sullivan. Prior to teaching, I was a machinist at Carrier and an NDT at Peabody Testing. I am married and have 1 son and 2 grandchildren. My students call me Ms. Leslie. I received a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood and Elementary Education from Evangel Christian College. I received a Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction from Trevecca Nazarene University. I have been blessed to teach in Dickson County since 2004. Prior to my experience in Dickson, I taught eight years in another county. I am married, and we have 2 children, both in college. My students call me Mrs. Tracy. I have been teaching since 2014. I have taught both third and fourth grade. Educators undoubtedly have the ability to do much good, to actually change the lives of our students. My favorite thing about teaching is this: We have the ability to cultivate a desire to learn in our students, to encourage them to fulfill their potential. I count my blessings daily and hope to always do right by them. My elementary philosophers make me smarter on a daily basis; and there is no greater feeling than creating a spark for the desire to learn in them. Out of all the professions in the world, teaching is what I was born to do.
